City Mix 2009: A celebration of all people

And a celebration it was! This past weekend we participated in the second annual "City Mix" , hosted by Community Living Toronto and sponsored by TD Bank Financial.

City Mix is a unique inclusive celebration focused on social inclusion for people of all abilities and featured information booths from various community organizations, food vendors, performers (including Lucas Hunter and Culture Shock) and commenced at 5pm on Friday Aug 21 and went into the warm starry night; ending at 10pm just after our performance.

We were honoured to be a part of such a great celebration at Nathan Phillips Square and want to thank everyone involved in the planning and prep (Karolina, Lance, Wayne and the whole CL & City of Toronto crew - you rock!) along with the organizations that came together to produce this great event: Alliance for Equality of Blind Canadians, Autism Ontario, The Canadian Hearing Society, Canadian Mental Health Association, Centre for Independent Living in Toronto, City of Toronto, The Mix Community Club, Ontario March of Dimes, Pegasus Toronto and Variety Village.

"City Mix" will surely gain popularity as the years go on and the celebrations continue. What a great message, and a great event.

Downtown, Where All The Lights Are Bright

What a fabulous weekend at the Esplanade Bier Markt!

We were pleasantly surprised to see so many people stayed in the city and decided to come out and party with us! The killer EBM staff were servin’ up the cold ones in style as always, and it wasn’t easy to find an open spot on the dance floor all weekend.

We had a great time and are looking forward to getting back there THIS WEEKEND!

We’re back at the Esplanade Bier Markt 9pm-1am this Sunday, August 2 -- and if you’re in town, we’d love to see you there! Just think: “no work on Monday, no work on Monday…” and come on out for some great food and tunes! It seems like summer may finally be here, so hop on by and check out their patio for dinner and then come on inside to dance off those yummy Bier Markt fries.

See you soon!

Prettig!

Although this Dutch word means “pleasant, nice, merry, enjoyable…” it was certainly more than just that at the Esplanade Bier Markt this weekend! With the warm weather in full swing, the large Bier Markt patio was packed and full of people taking in the great Esplanade vibe. Inside was full with after-work socials and we saw the start of the bachelorette & stag season, along with many birthday celebrations.

What a nice way to indulge on a spring weekend - pick from over 100 brands of beer and match it with something from their unique and memorable menu. We’re looking forward to getting back there soon, there is nothing quite like the crowd at this venue – always supportive, fun and keep US wanting more. Thanks to you all!

We’re heading to the newest addition to the Bier Markt chain this coming weekend, May 15th and 16th – which is located on King Street West. In yet another trendy area of Toronto, this Bier Markt is full of style & elegance; and like its ‘counterbar’ always promises friendly staff members and clients alike.

Make your way to King & Portland this weekend for a bite, a pint and some great music!

Barrie Rocks!

Tonya Kennedy's benefit for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation was a huge success! The event raised $5,000 this year! Making the total for the last three years a whopping $15,000.00!! Kudos and big compliments to Tonya for organizing such a great event, we were so honoured to be a part of it.

With a great line-up which of course included Tonya Kennedy, Shari Lynn, Derek James Tilley, Cheri Maurice as 'Sharia Twain', and Tara Tuma, we were among some wonderful, giving and talented musicians. We had such a great time!

The event took place at The Mansion, in Barrie, which is a very nice place, and apparently among a long line of clubs on Dunlop Street that support live music. On our way back to the car, there were at least 3 bars that had live bands! That was so nice to see. It was such a lovely night, and the streets were alive with people bar hopping and checking out what was going on.

Thanks to everyone who showed their support! We should have video to post soon of the event, so visit us again soon!

West 50 was a blast!

We had a great time on our debut weekend at West 50!

The venue is very nice, and GM Jason made us feel very welcome, as did the crowd! The staff is very kind and DJs Paulo and Mark were a pleasure to work with.

We hope you can make it out for our next weekend there - June 12 & 13 - with over 100 beers on draught, a great DJ coupled with live music and a packed dance floor, there is something to please every one at the hottest club in Mississauga.

West End Girls...and Boys

We're on our way to the west end this weekend - to an upscale/casual, hip restaurant called West 50. This "Pourhouse & Grille" boasts over 100 beers on tap (the largest selection of draft beer in Canada) with a menu of fresh market cuisine and international flavours.

We're playing this Friday March 6, and also on Saturday March 7th - West 50 is located on the top floor of the Sussex Centre, across the street from Square One. Our first set is at 10:30pm, and we're really looking forward to getting out to Mississauga!

Hope you can make it, would be great to see you! As always, we appreciate your support!

Taste of Burlington

This week we're playing a new room called 'The Dickens' and it's in the WEST end, if you can believe it! We hardly ever get out that way! Ha. We are on stage at 10pm this Thursday February 26, 2009.

And what a great time to be playing at this venue! Today marks the first day of a two week showcase of world culinary culture involving 17 local restaurants, called "Taste of Burlington". The Dickens is taking part, flaunting the talents of chef Gary Chin, offering the eclectic styles and flavours of the world with a prix-fixe lunch and/or dinner option. For more information and to see their prix-fixe menu(s), please see the page on The Dickens' website or call 905.333.4991.

We're looking forward to playing here, and hope that anyone in Burlington, Oakville or Mississauga can stop in for a chat, drink and a song or two. Of course, those of you Torontonians that want to take the trek out to the 'west side' are always more than welcome!!

Chalk it up to another great weekend

We had another great gig at Chalkers this past weekend. It has been funny, though, that almost every weekend we've played at this venue there has been a snow storm on one of the nights! There was still a great crowd throughout each night, and we're looking forward to playing there in the warmer months ahead. It's always a pleasure to work with Steve and the rest of the wonderful staff there.

Make sure to check out the Chalkers website for great dinner music and evening entertainment! Take some friends and shoot a few games of pool or try their food (band members say it's delicious!) and you know you're in for a good night.

Bier Markt on the Esplanade

What a great weekend we had at the Esplanade Bier Markt! Full of fun people, ready to dance, it was a packed room both nights and we can't wait to get back there.

Gill was our super sound man, he really took care of us! So did Natalia & Eva. A well rounded night, with great DJing from Charles on Friday and Dave on Saturday night, spinnin' tunes while we took a break.

Thanks to all our friends who made it out, we really appreciate the support!
